EXPRESS YOURSELF! We encourage our Drama Kids to bring their character alive with their own personal touch! That said, please do not go to any great expense for this costume. Their performance is what will make them shine onstage - not the costume! All Drama Kids costumes should cost little to no money to make. Old clothing/Halloween costumes, thrift stores, dollar stores and party stores are great places to check out. Or reach out to your Facebook friends! You'd be surprised how many are happy to loan or give away old pirate or mermaid costumes. We provide the props and main signature pieces and whatever else we can for each child's costume. Your child's teacher will also have specific details on what we have on hand. Please refer to the suggestions below for more details. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher: Drama Mama ([email protected]) or Ms. Jillian ([email protected]) PIRATES
Colorful or striped shirts paired with ripped pants/cut-off jeans or skirts; accessorized with sashes, pirate hats, beaded necklaces, eye patches, etc. Boots, shoes or sandals on feet.
IMMORTALS Our immortals will be in human form - so mermaid tales are not necessary! Our mermaids could wear a pair of brightly colored leggings (ala fish scales) paired with a white top – Sirens in a black top. Mermen could wear togas or a more “Aquaman” style costume. Mermaids can wear tales, if they are able to walk (& dance!) in them. Gods, goddesses or merfolk can opt for Greek style togas. (You can easily turn a piece of fabric or old bed sheet into a toga with safety pins and ropes!) Sandals or ballet slippers on feet.
Parents, thank you in advance for all your support. YOU ROCK!!!

***UPDATE*** As of June 7, Masks are optional for performance weekend! JUNE 10 - 13, 2021 AT CLIFTON COMMONsThis year’s Spring Performance “Survival Guide” has some different information for parents to know, so please read through this carefully! Covid-19 Safety Protocol Update In lieu of the Governor's announcement on Monday, June 7, that the state now allows school students, employees and visitors the option to not wear masks outside, we are able to extend our Drama Kids the option to perform without their masks! They will still remain spaced out 6 feet apart while on stage, that has not changed. And, of course, if you or your child are not comfortable removing your mask at this time, we certainly respect and honor your decision. The same goes for your guests. As per small- and large-scale event rules, unvaccinated attendees and attendees who have an unknown vaccination status must be spaced 6 feet apart, and should still wear masks, except while seated and eating or drinking. Masks are optional for those that can present proof of full vaccination status.
***ACTION REQUIRED***Please click on the following link to RSVP with how many guests will be attending your child’s performance and answer the health screening questions, to attest that everyone in your party will be healthy and have not come in close contact with any suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19. Parking/ArrivalPerformances are held at stage in Clifton Commons: Clifton Common Blvd, Clifton Park, NY 12065 DIRECTIONS: https://goo.gl/maps/ZsgV16hRuJ2CCGyY8 Please do not arrive more than ONE HOUR prior to your show start time! We are not allowed to start seating in the field prior to that. Teen Acting Academy students must be dropped off 2 hours before show time (in costume), for their dress rehearsal on stage. Families are welcome to come back in an hour to set-up in the audience. Creative Dramatic families can stay and setup while their child rehearses on stage the hour prior to showtime. Upon arrival, please follow the designated signs. This will help us with traffic flow in between performances and enable our staff of volunteers to help direct you where to go! Once you get to the audience, you will see markers designating spots to set up around. This is to help keep everyone spaced properly. There is a ton of parking in the right as soon as you enter the park, next to the Senior Center building. Be sure to verify your child’s performance time with the schedule listed below. SeatingDon’t forget to RSVP with the number of guests attending. *Please note, we may have to limit the number of guests you bring if a particular performance exceeds capacity. RSVP HERE Please bring your own chairs/blankets to sit on. Creative Dramatic students are asked to sit with their families, so please bring them a seat, as well. No pop-up tents, umbrellas or other items that could block someone’s view while sitting in the audience. Things to consider bringing:
Food & DrinkFood & Drink is allowed at the show; however the park has a carry in/carry out policy. Please bring bags to put your garbage in. Don’t eat a lot before the show and be sure to go to the bathroom before your rehearsal and showtime. Parents of our Creative Dramatics students, please be available to escort your child to the bathroom, as we will not have enough staff on hand to help with bathroom runs. Restrooms and porta potties are located right next to the field (see map above). Video & PhotosWe will be taking video of all performances and a free digital copy will be sent out to all families upon completion! If you would like to purchase a DVD copy of your child’s performance, the cost is $15 and the DVD will be mailed to you within 6-8 weeks of your child’s performance. If you take pictures after the show, please make sure to not linger too long so that the next audience can get into the area and set up. The park is huge with several other areas, feel free to move to a different part of the park to take beautiful outdoor pictures to help keep things moving! CostumesPlease arrive to your scheduled dress rehearsal IN COSTUME. There is no private space to change or get ready at the park. Apply makeup at home before the show if you want to do makeup. (If you do not do makeup that is fine with us!) COSTUME SUGGESTION REMINDERS: We wanted to make costumes super easy for you this year, parents! Our “Epic Birthday” stars can wear a favorite summertime outfit – anything they might wear to a birthday party. (Just no flip-flops, as we do a lot of dancing and moving on stage!) The brighter & more colorful, the better. For our Acting Academy teens, we’ve asked them to wear jeans with a brightly colored t-shirt as their base costume. As we’ve discussed with them in class, they can choose to accentuate their character’s costume with accessories. Please email Ms. Jillian if your child has questions regarding any character-specific accessories: [email protected] Remember to dress light – it’s likely going to be hot! 2021 Drama Kids Spring Performance ScheduleThursday, June 10, 2021

Sunday, June 13, 2021 ***RAIN-DATE***
On behalf of all of us at Drama Kids, I would like to thank you and your family for your continued support of Drama Kids and your child's development through drama. Your understanding, support & generosity is appreciated more than you know! We are excited to finally announce our Spring Performance venue for June 2021. Drumroll, please… THE STAGE AT CLIFTON COMMONS IN CLIFTON PARK! Yes, this will be our first ever Drama Kids theatre performance - OUTDOORS! We are beyond grateful to the Town of Clifton Park for welcoming us to use their fabulous stage at Clifton Commons. Thanks to them, we are now able to allow for a much bigger audience, allowing ALL of your family to come and celebrate your amazing kids. They have worked so very hard and are eager to shine on stage. They DESERVE the rush of performing for a big audience, and now we can make that a reality! Keep reading for important details regarding this year’s Spring Performance, including the day & time of your child’s performance, performance fees and more. Mark your Calendars: June 10 - 13, 2021While we are thrilled to offer our students and their families a much safer performing experience by performing outside, there are some drawbacks to outdoor theatre. The first and foremost being rain. As such, we have secured the stage for a rain-date on the Sunday of our performance weekend: June 13. Be sure to save that date along with the official day & time of your child’s performance. Please see the full Performance Schedule down below. However, it is possible that even our rain-date may have to be cancelled. In which case, we would move the performance to a weekday performance, (ideally outdoors), at your child’s respective class location. ADDITIONAL PRODUCTION COSTSAnother unfortunate drawback of outdoor theatre can be acoustics. While we pride ourselves on developing strong, projected voices in our students, projecting outside (and above music) is a feat in and of itself, even for the most seasoned performer. Not to mention, it is highly likely that our performers will still be wearing masks come the day of our performance. But we have a plan! This includes renting a sound system and floor microphones for the performance. It also includes pre-recording our Creative Dramatics students singing their solo songs. (This will be no easy feat, either! Parents, stay tuned for more details about how we will be orchestrating this in the coming weeks.) PERFORMANCE FEE DONATIONSAs you may recall from previous DKI Spring Performances and/or from the online enrollment agreement, we charge an annual performance fee in lieu of charging your guests tickets to the show. This performance fee helps cover venue costs, student awards, in addition to new licensing costs this year. Not to mention the unexpected expense of renting a sound system. We calculated that a $75 performance fee (per family) would cover the bulk of these additional costs. As many parents have pointed out, a performance fee is not too much to ask, considering that many performance-based programs in the area (such as dance, theater & music) charge admission to ALL attendees ($5-20 per person!), a costume fee upwards of $50, and sometimes an extra performance fee on top of all that. Not to mention their tuition. That being said, we understand that these are difficult times for everyone, and that an additional fee of $75 may be more than many of our families can afford at this time. And so, as a gesture of good will, instead of charging a flat performance fee this year, we would like to ask for a donation to help us cover these production costs. If you can contribute $75, wonderful! If that is a lot to ask currently, we want to help. Or, if you are willing & able to donate a greater amount to help cover the cost of others who are unable to contribute, your Drama Kids’ family would be forever grateful!!! To make your donation, CLICK HERE to logon to our Parent Portal and select the "GIVE" icon at the top of the page. We are accepting donations of any amount, so if you would like to contribute an amount other than what is listed, please email us at [email protected]. 2021 DRAMA KIDS SPRING PERFORMANCE SCHEDULEThursday, June 10, 2021
