Each week we will be choosing one of our dramatic classes to highlight for our #ClassoftheWeek! This week we have chosen our Tuesday Clifton Park Upper Primary kiddos!
"How would I describe Clifton Park Tuesday Upper Primary? Three words: Energy, Enthusiasm and Effort! These students come to class each week raring to go, excited for whatever's in store! They always give 110% in anything they do. I always leave class exhausted, lol, but excited to see what they will do the following week!" - Miss Jillian
"Although I've only had the pleasure of teaching this class when Miss Jillian is out sick, I must say that they are one of our most FUN classes to teach! There's so much energy and enthusiasm - and their Spring Performance is always a hit!" - Miss Kristyn

This week we have chosen our brand NEW Delmar Senior Acting Academy, as well as our Delmar Junior Acting Academy! "Our Delmar class is a shining example of an ensemble. They work together, and because of that, they bring out the best in each other!" - Miss Jillian "They have grown and matured together as a group, and they are always there to help each other and have each other's backs!" - Miss Destiny So why have we decided to choose our Delmar Acting Academy as our very first #ClassoftheWeek? Well... they are the perfect example of our Drama Kid's #FUNdamentals! "I was SO nervous to teach on my first day of Drama Kids back in 2012. Delmar was the very first class of the year, and the butterflies were almost unbearable. I couldn't shake my anxious thoughts of, "Will the kids like me?" "What if they miss their old teacher?" "What if I mess up?" What if, what if, what if... I successfully navigated my first two classes - a fun and energy packed Lower Primary class, and a wonderful group of Upper Primary students (Many of whom are now in the Acting Academy!) However, as the newest batch of teen and tween Acting Academy students started to arrive my confidence began to plummet. This was the class I was the most worried about! It's easy to win over the little ones - but as many of you know - tweens and teens are a whole different breed! As I was busy trying to stop my anxieties from bubbling over, Deanna began to introduce Destiny and I to the class - and that's when something amazing happened! The class initiated a huge group hug with us! I have not since experienced, nor can I fathom, a warmer welcome then the one I received that night. From then on out our Delmar Acting Academy has always been the prime example of what it means to be a true ensemble. Their teamwork, dedication, and support for one another knows no bounds. Each Friday, after a long week of teaching, I leave Delmar feeling inspired and excited to see what the next week has in store. Delmar... you ROCK!" -Miss Kristyn On our first day of class, we asked our students what they think is the most FUN thing about Drama Kids. From "meeting new people" to "expressing myself", our Delmar Acting Academy students all had some very inspirational things to share! Check out more of their answers in our gallery below! WATCH OUR DELMAR AA STUDENTS IN ACTION!We are so excited to have your child join our cast of characters at Drama Kids! This year we have decided to get back to our #FUNdamentals with all new adventures, plays, improv activities, and a brand new #ProjectSilverScreen film session. What else do we have up our sleeve? Just wait until you find out! We'll be sure to keep you up-to-date as our 11th year in the Capital Region unfolds!
We know that as parents there is a lot going through your mind as your child braves the new school year, and we completely understand! With the increasing pressures our kids face in school and amongst their peers, please know that Drama Kids is a program that continues to develop self-expression in kids... a place where they can be themselves! It is a place where they can imagine, experiment, learn, make mistakes and receive feedback, and ultimately succeed. And with more kids communicating digitally, the face-to-face conversational and public speaking skills that distinguish them in young adulthood are at the heart of what we do. We understand that preparing our Drama Kids for life is much more important than a standardized test - or even a performance at the end of the year. And that is why we are here to develop powerful creativity and communication skills inside our students. And that is why at Drama Kids... the difference is dramatic! - Deanna Stickles-Bach (AKA Drama Mama), Director Each year our students transform into movie stars during their #ProjectSilverScreen session! Starting in November, our Drama Kids create a movie from the ground up. They develop their characters and scripts - and they even get to use special effects on a green screen! All this leads up to their big movie premiere night in January. Oh yes, our Drama Kids truly get the red carpet treatment! Want to learn more about our #ProjectSilverScreen session? What should my child wear to class? Usually whatever your child wears to school that day is fine! We recommend that girls do not wear dresses or skirts unless they have shorts underneath. Drama Kids does have special "dress up days" occasionally. Dressing up is not required, but only serves to enhance your child's experience. We will let you know in advance what these theme days will consist of. Additional questions? At anytime if you wish to contact us, call (518) 458-1313 or email your Director, Deanna, at [email protected], or our Office Administrator at [email protected]. Each year our Drama Kids take the stage at the Egg in downtown Albany to perform their Spring Plays! The performances serve to showcase our students' skill development over the course of the year. We begin our Spring Performance session with our students in February, and continue with rehearsals throughout May. This year our Spring Performance weekend falls on May 28 - 31 ... SAVE THE DATES! Early February we will announce the exact day and time of your child's own Spring Performance. Oh no! That's the same weekend as my daughter's dance recital!!! Never fear! Notify us as soon as possible and we will do everything in our power to schedule your child's performance around any major conflict. However, conflicts must be brought to our attention by January, before we release the final schedule of performances. Is the anticipation killing you? We know how you feel! Why not take a look at our 2018 Spring Performance highlight reel to hold you over! As you will see... the difference is dramatic! |
