We are so excited to have your child join our cast of characters at Drama Kids! We have been hard at work creating our most empowering year of Drama Kids yet. Every week we encourage our students to stand up at let their voices be heard... and this year is no exception! That's why we're on a mission to help our students find their #VOICE! (Check out our sneak peek video to get a taste of what #VOICE is all about!) We know that as parents there is a lot going through your mind as your child braves the new school year, and we completely understand! With the increasing pressures our kids face in school and amongst their peers, please know that Drama Kids is a program that continues to develop self-expression in kids... a place where they can be themselves! It is a place where they can #imagine, experiment, learn, make mistakes, and ultimately succeed. And with more kids communicating digitally, the face-to-face conversation and public speaking skills that distinguish them in young adulthood are at the heart of what we do. We understand that preparing our Drama Kids for life is much more important than a standardized test - or even a performance at the end of the year. And that is why we are here to develop powerful creativity and communication skills inside our students. And that is why at Drama Kids... the difference is dramatic! - Deanna Stickles-Bach (AKA Drama Mama), Director
If you are new to Drama Kids, please note that our goal is to provide each student with a dynamic and fun learning environment whereby students are motivated to participate fully and achieve their personal best, at all levels of development. Our classes are fast-paced and fun! During the Fall and Winter months, we develop our students' acting and language skills unlike any other program out there, meanwhile building their confidence and self-esteem through our award winning curriculum and outstanding teaching staff. Then...just wait until you see all of these skills showcased in our end-of-year performance which will be held on stage at the EGG, May 28-31 - complete with costumes, a set and props for the enjoyment of all your family and friends. It is a magical experience that our students cherish for years to come!
Parents in the Classroom. Parents are NOT allowed to sit through the lesson. You can either wait in the waiting area outside of class, or drop-off your child and pick them up at the end of class. We do this for obvious reasons. Children who are extroverts may start performing and stop listening to their teacher, thus missing out on the potential to learn new skills. On the other hand, those students who are more introverted tend to shut down or not fully participate knowing that they are being observed. Our goal is to prepare both groups to perform. We will slowly introduce the audience component to our students. You will have the opportunity to see your child display the skills he or she has learned at our mid-year and year-end performances. In addition, parents will be invited into the classroom about once a month to see an informal presentation of a portion of the week's lesson. Want to know when our "Parent Observation Days" will be held? Go to our LOCATION page and easily sync our Google calendar to your child's class calendar! Pick-up. Parents are expected to pick up their children promptly when class is over. We will dismiss our K-5th grade students one at a time in order to share with you what your child did in class that day. For safety reasons, our teachers will not be able to dismiss children without seeing the designated pick-up person's face. Please bear in mind that our teachers must teach directly after class...so please do not be late! Parents who are more than 15 minutes late will be assessed a $20 late fee. Code of Conduct. Please take a moment to review our Code of Conduct and share our expectations with your child. Together, we can make this a safe and fun experience for everyone! Read our Code of Conduct HERE. We have a great year ahead of us! Please be sure to come up and meet your child's teacher at the end of class, as they will have more details about your child's classroom experience.
