We are putting on THREE imaginative performances this Fall! Read on to learn more and IMAGINE the possibilities! PRESENTING OUR FALL MUSICAL... MATILDA JR! Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International CHECK OUT OUR MATILDA JR. SNEAK PEEK VIDEO HERE! Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace! We encourage our Drama Kids to bring their character alive with their own personal touch! That said, please do not go to any great expense for their costumes. Their performance is what will make them shine onstage - not the costume! Please feel free to use old clothing/Halloween costumes, thrift stores, dollar stores, and party stores to help complete your looks. Or reach out to your Facebook friends! You'd be surprised how many are happy to loan or give away old costumes. We have compiled a list of detailed costume suggestions per character, so click on the image below to read more! There you will find exactly what we will be providing and what you will need to supplement in order to complete each look. At the end of that document you will find links to some of the items pictured to purchase on Amazon or to further your search for inspiration. Remember, these are suggestions and guidelines. Don't be afraid to get creative! And don't be afraid to DIY!!! Home "work"Practice makes proud performers!
Don't forget that we've compiled a library of video demos of the songs & dances we are learning in class. This will be a great resource in case your Drama Kid has to miss class, or would just like some extra practice at home! What with an uptick in colds and Spring conflicts, it's understandable that kids will have to miss a few classes. We get it! We'll be able to catch them up in class no problem, if...and ONLY IF...they do a little extra homework that week to keep everything fresh. (That way they can absorb all of the awesome tips we have to teach them in class!) Here is a collection of more resources to help our students practice with at home:
We will upload videos weekly to the Google Drive once they've been recorded in class, so keep checking back. And of course, if you or your Drama Kid have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. That's what we're here for! CLICK HERE to view our complete schedule of our June performances, including call times. ADMISSION IS FREE for all of your guests! "TUT, TUT!" COSTUME SUGGESTIONSYou have been eagerly awaiting guidance regarding costumes, and we have some good news for you, parents! We wanted to make things as easy for you as possible, and so, we will be making color-coordinated tunics and collars for our entire cast! We loved the uniformity of the colored tunics in the YouTube video we shared with you, but instead of asking each of you to make your own, we thought it would be easiest to do the leg work for you. :) As you see in the picture above, our royals will be in blue, purple, red & white tunics, while our street urchins will be in light & dark brown ones. Each group will have their own special colored tunic with a collar & belt to go with it. So, what do our Drama Kids need to provide?
We'll handle the rest!!! HOME "WORK"Practice makes proud performers!
