As many will recall, securing the EGG for our Spring Performance Venue was no easy feat and comes at a cost that your tuition alone simply won't cover. Additionally, the rental fees at the Egg were raised considerably upon re-opening post Covid-19.
Therefore each family will be responsible for paying a modest $50 Ticketing Fee. This fee is per FAMILY, not per person, and will cover ALL of the guests that you bring to the performance. This way, we will not charge admission to your guests, AND there is no need to RSVP for tickets. We have plenty of space, so the more, the merrier! For those set up on the monthly tuition plan, your credit card will automatically be charged this additional fee on June 1. For those that have pre-paid for the year, you can pay cash, check or charge...or with DRAMA BUCKS! :D We prefer receiving payment at class, but we will collect any unpaid performance fees at the Egg, the day of the performance (at the T-shirt table in the lobby). Flash photography is NOT permitted during the show. You are welcome to take pictures during the show, but please refrain from blinding our young actors! (You are welcome to grab as many pictures as you would like during our dress rehearsal on stage, just remember that only ONE parent is welcome in the theatre during this time.) If you take pictures after the show, please make sure to not linger too long as we have limited time in the theatre with performances often running back-to-back. "NOT-SO-PROFESSIONAL" VIDEOSMy lovely husband, Jason, will be videotaping the show again and we will provide a FREE digital copy for all families upon completion. PLEASE NOTE: We are no longer producing physical DVD copies of the performances. Only digital copies will be made available to you, at no additional charge! "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice." - Vladimir Horowitz Practice is the path to true growth and improvement. Practice hones abilities, strengthens confidence, and improves overall performance! Sure, it might not be the most exciting part of Drama Kids... but the benefits are totally worth it! We promise your child will feel infinitely more excited and prepared on the day of their performance if they put in the extra work at home. Plus, the sense of pride they will feel at the end will be priceless! Believe it or not, it doesn't take much time! We highly recommend 5-10 minutes every day...tops! The key is doing a small amount EVERY day. Cramming it in right before class (or right before the performance - ahhhhh!) won't do you any good. The best way to ingrain it in your long-term memory is to rehearse daily. But again, it doesn't take much! I recommend making it a part of your daily routine: eating breakfast, right before bed, in the car, during study halls...or even in the bathroom! ;) We get a lot accomplished in just 2-3 hours, and if our students don't practice what they've learned each night throughout the week, they simply don't retain the information for the next class. This causes us to have to go back and re-teach parts of the play rather than polishing scenes and moving forward. Not only is it detrimental to the rehearsal process, it's also quite frustrating for the other actors as well. Remember - our plays are not about one character shining on the stage. Our plays are a total team effort! The strength of our ensemble relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of our players. Think of our rehearsals as a team-sport practice. On a team you want each player to be able to trust each other and work together. If someone isn't doing well, they are expected to practice to improve their skills so they can play the game to the best of their abilities. The same principles apply to drama as well! That being said... are we expecting perfection? Nope! We know mistakes happen - heck, us teachers even flub onstage from time to time! However, we sincerely believe that practicing a few minutes every night will allow our Drama Kids to feel more comfortable on stage, even in the event of a mistake or a missed line. If they put in the effort now, they will have much more FUN at the performance! So how can you help prepare your Drama Kid for the big day? Read our tips below to help you get the most out of your rehearsal time!

P.S. Drama Parents... this isn't just for kids! This lesson is just as valuable to YOU! Join in the fun with your Drama Kid to learn this valuable trick to improve your memory as well! "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is practice." - Vladimir Horowitz With only a few classes left before the big Spring Performance, it's time to evaluate how prepared your child is for the big day! Have you been practicing with them? Do they know their lines? Do they know their cue lines? How about their movements? Are they making big character choices as they practice? Are they projecting their voice?
If you aren't sure of the answer to these questions (or if the answer is no!) now is the time to really buckle down and practice practice practice! I'm sure we sound like a broken record at this point. No doubt you have heard us announce this spiel after class, but we really cannot stress it enough! We get a lot accomplished in 2-3 hours, and if our students don't practice what they've learned each night throughout the week, they simply don't retain the information for the next class. If someone isn't doing well, they are expected to practice to improve their skills so they can play the game to the best of their abilities. The same principles apply to drama as well! Of course, the possibility of disappointing the ensemble shouldn't be the only motivation to practice! Practice is the path to true growth and improvement. Practice hones abilities, strengthens confidence, and improves overall performance! Sure, it might not be the most exciting part of Drama Kids... but the benefits are totally worth it! A Tale as Old as TimeThe moment you've been waiting for has finally arrived! We are so excited to announce this Spring we will be staging TWO musicals! Our Acting Academies & Advanced Musical Theatre Academies will be performing the beloved classic, "Beauty & The Beast Jr." and our Creative Dramatics will be staging an exciting brand new musical by BBB Press, "Tut, Tut!" LIVE PERFORMANCES HELD JUNE 8-11 AT THE EGG!!! A Children's Musical presented through special arrangement by Beat By Beat Press TUT, TUT! is inspired by the life of “King Tut” (the 10-year old who became King of Egypt) with a touch of Mark Twain’s “The Prince and the Pauper”. The story begins with a young Prince Tut who is bored of the royal life, so he wanders into the streets of the city looking for adventure. Suddenly he meets a peasant who looks just like him! They concoct a plan to trade places for three days. But when the King dies and Prince Tut must ascend the throne, their plan goes terribly awry. A 60 minute adaption presented through a special arrangement with MTI Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance, and features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. Drama Kids...You spoke...we listened!Overwhelmingly, you want more musicals and to perform at The Egg. Well, WISH GRANTED!!! But even genies have limitations. Over the past few years we've learned that we need more time to make the magic happen. The magic of musicals that is, which is what we'll be offering this Spring! We know that for some of you our 3-hour class option seemed daunting, but as we all quickly realized this Fall, our time together was not only more productive, but so much more fun! So we got creative! Based on the popularity of our 2-hour "Take 2" Performance Academy classes, we are bringing those back this Spring so that ALL of our students have the opportunity to perform at The Egg the weekend of June 8-11, 2023! As such, we will be turning our 1 hour Acting Academy class into a 2 hour Performance Class. Yet 2 hours is still not enough to give our students the advanced Drama Kids performance experience they've come to love. Which is why we are renaming our 3 hour classes the "Advanced Musical Theatre Performance Academy." So, what does this all mean?
