Our young campers are having a blast exploring the world of different playwrights from history! From Shakespeare to Sophocles, our Drama Kids are discovering artists of the past... and in turn will hopefully be inspired to become artists of our future! Stay tuned for their final movie project later in the week... a modern twist on Shakespeare's classics! In the meantime peruse our photo gallery to see just how much FUN these campers are having! Each week we choose one of our dramatic classes to highlight for our #ClassoftheWeek! This week we have chosen the Colonie Junior Acting Academy! "The journey we took this year with our Colonie Acting Academy class was a remarkable one. In September most of these kids didn't know each other. We had a lot of new students join, others moving up from different classes, not to mention a wide range of age and experience. And so watching them onstage at the Egg I couldn't help but admire the tight ensemble they became in such a short amount of time. Often it will take years for a group to blend together the way they did. Watching them support one another, work hard together and laugh harder was an amazing thing to witness. These teens truly embraced what it means to be an ensemble...that working together we can achieve anything we set our minds to. (Not to mention all of the FUN we had along the way!!!) They are so much more than a class...they are family. And I am so very proud to be their Drama Mama!!!" - Miss Deanna (AKA Drama Mama!) Spring Performance Photo Gallery!Stay tuned for a highlight reel from their spring performance of "murder at mornington manor"!"I wanted to send you an e-mail to express my sincere gratitude for another incredible year with Drama Kids International. I was blown away with both Ryan and Caitlyn's performances and productions yesterday. I told the kids coming home that that was the BEST Lower Primary Production I have seen in 5 years - what a great group of kids!! And Jillian, I can't believe the jump from one level to the next... the Upper Primary Group rocked it! I cried like a baby when the Seniors expressed their gratitude to all of you, and I explained to Caitlyn that what I took from that wasn't the acting comments but more so the fact that they all said they have all been made into better people because of Drama Kids International. We are so happy to be part of the Drama Kids Family, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making Tuesday my kids' favorite day of the week." "My daughter LOVES drama kids!! I was so impressed with the play. I cannot wait to get the DVD. I would like to thank you for all the support you gave the children!!! It is because of your hard work and dedication that they had the confidence to perform so well. Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you!!!" "My son said he was nervous before the show but once he got on stage... he said he LOVED it! He wasn't nervous at all and loved the audience laughing at his lines! And the shades part was priceless & well played! Thank you again for being such a great teacher for him! He can't wait for the next class! He was captivated by the academy performance! Such a wonderful program!" "I wanted to say, as you heard over and over from others on the weekend that you have deeply touched my daughter's heart in the very short time that she has been at Drama kids with you. I cannot thank you enough for welcoming her midyear and helping her feel confident and good about herself. It was amazing to me to see her literally beam during the Paradesia performance." "[My daughter] really enjoyed her class and working with you. I have to tell you, she had a presentation for a final grade last week and I think her acting class helped her immensely. She spoke loudly and clearly and was comfortable enough to joke. This is just one example of how this class has boosted her confidence and will serve her well in the future." "My family really enjoyed last night's performance. Thank you for giving my son a wonderful experience. We are so happy he seems to have found his niche." I just wanted to say thank you again and tell you what a amazing job you both did on Sunday...and all year. I am so grateful that we enrolled my daughter in Drama Kids...it was such an awesome experience for her...she learned so much...and had so much fun. It isn't easy for Jenna to make friends or "fit in"...but she felt welcome and like part of the Drama Kid Family right away!! It was such a great boost to her self esteem...which she truly needs!! "I know [our daughter] loves working with you and I am impressed with how much her skills have grown in the program. My husband and I continue to be amazed by how supportive and inclusive your program is. Of all the activities she has been a part of, Drama Kids Delmar stands out as a model for not only providing skills but to do so in a truly fun and caring environment." "Thank you Drama Mama and everyone at DKI. You definitely made a dramatic difference!" "My son really really enjoyed [Drama Kids] so much this year. He's never been in any activity that I haven't had to talk him into going to when his anxiety gets the best of him, EXCEPT Drama Kids!! He's very excited to continue his journey with you." "[My daughter's] favorite day of the week is Drama Kids day. She really enjoys having you as a teacher too. Next year her dance class got changed to Thursday's at 4:30 and she did not want to change her Drama Kids class because she enjoyed the teachers and kids so much. She will have busy Thursdays, but it will be worth it to see her so happy. The show was so well done. I was very impressed by the class and how everyone really knew their lines, were loud and clear and in character. I hope you have a wonderful summer!" "It is the second day after the egg performance and I can still breathe and feel the exciting, wonderful and successful air from the stage. It was a great time and everybody enjoyed it! You were all right about my son, I didn't need to worry too much. He practiced and remembered his scripts well. He acted Johnny Sparrow very well on the stage - his expression, sense of humor, and braveness. He was nervous and worried about it. I thought he would be very nervous for the first time in a real show. He was much better than I expected. I was very proud of him. I enjoyed other age group shows as well, and I was amazed how well the plays were designed regarding the kids' age and talents. The lower primary has more singing, dancing and fewer lines with lots of colors, and the acting academy class expressed more mature and deeper characters for each individual from inside out! I especially love the role assignments. The role assignments were close to perfect matches - they matched their appearance, personality, skills and potentials. I couldn't say more good words about it." SPRING PERFORMANCE SLIDESHOWTo our graduating 2017 Seniors... |
