While our students love the spontaneity, creative freedom and variety our classes offer (and parents, we know you love the life-long skills they are building!), we understand that the rigors of rehearsing & filming might not be up their alley.
Meanwhile, there are many Drama Kids that want MORE from the production-side of the theatrical arts. More individual coaching, more behind-the-scenes experience, more control, and more performance time. This new programming allows our students more choice of the experience and opportunities THEY want in Drama Kids. Do they want a fun, low-pressure, creative space in which they are free to express themselves and develop their presentation, creative thinking skills and confidence? Then our Lower & Upper Primary Creative Dramatics classes are for them! They’ll enjoy:
Or do they want all of that while also having the opportunity to dig deeper to expand their potential and talent, whether in film, on stage…OR BOTH?! Our "TAKE 2" Performance Academies offer students:
Due to current staffing, we are only opening performance classes at select locations. However, if there is enough interest in a performance class at one of our other locations, we may be able to make that happen! Please contact us if you would like to be put on a wish list for a future class offering.
Yes! If you pre-pay for one session at a time (Fall/Spring) save 5%. Pre-pay for the full year and save 10%. (Sibling Discounts of 10% off the total tuition also apply!)
The total Performance Academies will run about:
All of our "Take 2" Performance Academy families are subject to a $75 performance fee, which will be automatically charged to your card on March 15. This fee includes trophies/award, as well as free admission for all your guests to attend the Spring Performances at the Egg!
Students are still responsible for their own costumes, so you have full creative control. All costumes should cost little to no money to put together. We continue to charge a $20 registration fee…but if you enroll before September, that fee is waived for returning students. So ACT FAST and sign up early! No, and here’s why. We firmly believe that ongoing skill development is essential to our students’ development as young artists and performers, and crucial to the success of our shows. This is where our students receive the foundation and skills needed to produce an amazing show. More important, it’s what they need to be the best performer they can be!
This is what sets Drama Kids apart from other children's drama programs. Instead of simply learning lines and putting on a show, our Drama Kids learn the art and skill of performing. The Drama Kids “secret sauce” is a fun, fast paced, and developmental curriculum consisting of over 450 unique and detailed lesson plans that ensures happy and successful students. They learn how to project and articulate their voices, use their body and facial expressions to portray a range of emotions, employ a wide range of characterization techniques and gain mastery in creative improvisation. But more than that, we are preparing our students for the stage of LIFE! Our progressive curriculum allows students to have some serious fun, while also enabling them to develop:
Ideally, no. Our new class schedule allows for students to attend class for a continuous 1 ¾ to 2 hours. No separate pick-up times, which means more you-time, parents! 😊 We did a trial run of the extended class time at our in-school locations this year with great success! However, if you are concerned about the extended class time for your child, you are welcome to enroll them on separate days.
Most locations have a class schedule that works as follows:
No! They can enroll in either the Fall Film Academy OR the Spring Performance Academy. But they are welcome to enroll in both for the full DKI Performance experience!
