EXPRESS YOURSELF! We encourage our Drama Kids to bring their character alive with their own personal touch! That being said, please do not go to any great expense for this costume. Their performance is what will make them shine onstage - not the costume! So now is the time to start raiding your closets (or grandma's). All Drama Kids costumes should cost little to no money to make. Old clothing/Halloween costumes, thrift stores, dollar stores and party stores are great places to check out. Or reach out to your Facebook friends! You'd be surprised how many are happy to loan or give away old costumes. We provide the props and main signature pieces and whatever else we can for each child's costume. Your child's teacher will also have specific details on what we have on hand. Please refer to the suggestions below for more details. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact your child's DKI teacher or email our Customer Care Ambassador, Jillian, at [email protected]. Chicken-Hearted Fox Costume IdeasFarmers: Jeans, overalls, plaid shirts, cowboy hats, prairie skirts, denim skirts, sundresses, etc. Animals: Drama Kids will provide a hat, students are responsible to dress in the colors of their assigned animal.
You can find a selection of animal hats and costumes on eBay or Amazon. Just be sure to account for shipping times if ordering from eBay. Some of the hats in the link below are shipped from China so they take a few weeks to arrive. Storyland Idol Costume SuggestionsEnlist your child's creativity in creating their costumes! Their costumes should resemble their fairytale characters, but can also reflect their modern "attitude" in the show (i.e. Jack would actually wear a business suit, as opposed to the traditional Jack & the Beanstalk look). Please ask your child's teacher or email us if you need some help with costume ideas! ***We have purchased a "monster" hat & vest, Queen of Hearts crown, Mackie Mouse ears & gloves, fairy wings & wand, and various other unique props & accessories. We will keep you up to date as our collection grows! Your child may borrow these for the performance. Want to save the hassle and buy online? I personally love aliexpress.com for costumes at cheaper wholesale prices. And of course Amazon & eBay are great options, too! Need something in a pinch? The Costumer in Albany is my favorite local costume & prop place: thecostumer.com To Be or Not to Be...ME!The costumes for our Acting Academy play are both easy and challenging at the same time. Easy in the sense that it is set in our current time period and they are all playing high school students. They’re also challenging because it’s really up to the creativity of you and your child to bring their character to life. We will be providing the props and/or costume pieces for their Shakespearean characters. All you have to worry about is their High School characters. Each character has a specific personality, and your job as ‘costume designer’ is to make sure the audience knows what kind of character they are before they even speak. The costumes should be an exaggerated form of what these characters would wear to school every day. This is because they each embody a stereotype seen in high school. For example, the jock, the nerd, the teacher’s pet etc.
